Australia: Samsung Galaxy S· launch in Sydney on Thursday 31 May.

PC World Australia is reporting that Samsung will reveal Australian details for its hotly anticipated Galaxy S III smartphone later this month, following an invitation sent to the media to attend an "exclusive launch of Samsung's latest offering".

Scheduled to take place in Sydney on Thursday 31 May, the media event will attended by Tyler McGee, Samsung Australia's vice president of telecommunications. Samsung is expected to reveal Australian availability, pricing and carrier details for the Galaxy S III at the event.

The Samsung Galaxy S III will be available at the end of May in the US, Japan, Korea and various European markets..

 Samsung will release a 4G-capable model of the Galaxy S III in the US, Japan and Korea but the Australian version is likely to be a quad-band HSPA+ smartphone that won't work on Telstra's 4G network. The Galaxy S III is expected to be sold on all three Australian carriers — Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.
