CES 2012:LTE based WP7 Nokia Ace, HTC Radiant, Samsung Mendel to be announced.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

Paul Thurrott from SuperSite for Windows reports that “[t]hree LTE-based Windows Phone handsets -- the Nokia ACE, HTC Radiant, and Samsung Mendel -- will ship on AT&T Wireless before the middle of 2012. The ACE is due March 18, 2012.”

The handsets are rumored to feature in Microsoft’s final headlining keynote at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, says Thurrott, although he is unsure how these LTE-based devices will fit in with Microsoft’s WP7 “Tango” mobile operating system update, which is also rumored to be announced during the keynote before launching in early 2012.

Tango is said to be built for low-end smartphones, “so it's unclear how that jives with LTE, which is obviously a high-end feature,” notes Thurrot.

The Verge suggests the LTE-based devices will run on a pre-Tango version of Windows Phone that supports the 4G wireless mobile communication technology. The Verge also mentions that the HTC and Samsung LTE devices may not arrive in time for CES and may instead be announced during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this February.

Thurrot says a US version of Nokia’s WP7 Lumia 710 handset, codenamed “Sword,” will also be arriving to the US in April 2012 on US carrier Verizon Wireless.

Rival US carrier T-Mobile is already displaying the Nokia Lumia 710 on its website with the words “coming soon.” The low-cost Android competitor will be the first Nokia-made WP7 smartphone to land in the US and is due to arrive in stores on January 11 for $50 on a two-year contract.
