SEEBURGER and HP to Deliver Secure Cloud-Based File Exchange
SEEBURGER Technology to Be Included in New HP cCell Services.

SEEBURGER and HP Germany today announced an agreement making SEEBURGER File Exchange (SEE FX), a solution for secure, traceable and compliant user-to-user file sharing, available on HP's new cCell Services platform. The multi-tenant and private cloud options of HP cCell Services include a pay-per-use, HP-managed 'cloud in a box' that can be deployed in the customer's own data center to avoid capital outlays and maintain data on company premises. A first preview of the joint solution will be demonstrated at Cloud Computing World in Hall 4, Booth A58 at this week's CeBIT conference in Hannover, Germany.

SEE FX is a core component of SEEBURGER's multiple-award-winning SEEBURGER Managed File Transfer (SEE MFT) solution and is part of the widely adopted SEEBURGER Business Integration Suite (BIS), a comprehensive B2B integration platform that helps organizations enhance the value of their SAP deployments as well as achieve new business efficiencies by solving complex integration needs. SEE FX enables organizations to control and monitor file transfers both inside and outside the company firewall with full compliance, audit and security coverage unavailable with conventional file transfer solutions such as FTP, YouSendIt and Dropbox. SEE FX advantages include:
  • Support for files of any size, overcoming the limitations of email attachments as well as other managed file transfer solutions.
  • User-friendly access by Web browser or Microsoft Outlook, eliminating the need to change users' work habits. Once integration is set up, files transmitted through Outlook are automatically routed based on size and type without any need for user intervention.
  • End-to-end security including encryption, authentication, and guaranteed file delivery with the ability to restart transfers from checkpoints and automatic notification of transmission failures.
  • Centralized control, including a full audit trail of all file transfer activity as well as the ability to create file permissions, notify recipients, set data retention periods and the number of times a file can be downloaded, and establish other policies to thwart data leakage.
  • Lower total cost of ownership, including eliminating multiple FTP servers and associated administrative overhead.
SEEBURGER plans to expand its offerings on the HP cCell Services platform to include additional components of the SEE MFT suite; the SEEBURGER B2B Gateway, which automates trading partner communications; and SAP solution extensions that provide fully automated order-to-cash, SCM monitoring and related functions enabling benefits such as faster time to revenue.

"HP's new cloud services offer all the core cloud advantages, including rapid deployment and utility pricing, with unique additional benefits ranging from a pay-per-use on-premise private cloud as a service to optional addition of cCell Services from HP's or a partner's data center," said Rohit Khanna, EVP, Global Strategy and Corporate Development, at SEEBURGER. "This is a compelling new model with significant advantages for many companies, including those with regulatory prohibitions against transmitting data outside the company firewall."

HP cCell Services allow customers to choose whether cloud services are delivered from their own data center, a local provider's data center or HP's data center. HP cCell Services are ready-to-use IT services that are provided through standardized cloud cells (cCells). The services are managed and aggregated via a central broker platform so that they can be used across several cloud cells or offered through common marketplaces. Customers pay a monthly fee for HP cCell Services based on usage. Aside from a one-time installation fee, no other investments or fixed costs are required. HP cCell Services is being initially launched in the German market and is part of the portfolio HP Enterprise Cloud Services.

"Data security is a top concern for CIOs, and shared files are a major point of vulnerability," said Klaus Berle, Head of Cloud Competence Center, HP Germany. "We selected SEEBURGER File Exchange as one of the applications for our new cCell Services because it addresses these concerns, seamlessly integrates with SAP, and provides centralized control that is critical for easy administration and auditability."

In addition to HP cloud deployments, SEE FX and the other components of the SEEBURGER Business Integration Suite are also available as on-premise software, in a private cloud with the purchase of a traditional license, and under the managed services model.
