The first film about the life of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs since he died, with Ashton Kutcher in the lead role, will premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival, organizers reported.

The film "Jobs", directed by Joshua Michael Stern, known in 2008 for the film "Swing Vote," says the "30 years in life determinants of Steve Jobs", the statement released Monday by the Sundance Institute.

The film, written by Matt Whiteley, described in the text as "a candid portrait, inspiring and staff who saw things differently."

The Facebook profile of "jobs" indicates that the work shows "the amazing and powerful histora a visionary who set out to change the world and he did."

jOBS, the biopic of the Apple entrepreneur with Kutcher in the lead role, will close the Jan. 17-27 festival in Park City, Utah, with a big pop-culture bang, according to the schedule released today.
"We're really excited to have it as the closing night," says Trevor Groth, the festival's director of programming. "It's really an inspirational and entertaining film about a man who has had such a significant impact on the world."
"My hunch is he got the job because he bears such a striking resemblance to Jobs physically," Groth says. "But (Kutcher) really owns the performance."

Sony Pictures is also making a film about Jobs from the bestseller by Walter Isaacson, released last year after the death of Apple's CEO. This film will be written by fellow writer of "Social Network," Aaron Sorkin. Kutcher, 34, became famous through television series such as "That 70s Show" and "Punk'd" before replacing Charlie Sheen in May on "Two and a Half Men".

Jobs died on October 5, 2011 at age 56 after a long struggle against cancer.

Rumours: USA: T-Mobile to carry the iPhone 5.

According to Merrill Lynch analyst Scott Craig, “speculation is heightening,” that the German-owned carrier will announce a deal with Apple as soon as next week.

This notion comes just after T-Mobile USA’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Jim Alling commented on the iPhone just last week, according to Information Week.

“Make no mistake about it: We would love to carry the iPhone. However, we want the economies to be right for us.”

T-Mobile has made some impressive strides to allure users to its iPhone-less network. The company has allowed unlocked iPhones to operate on its network and has even supplies SIM cards to fit iPhone devices.

olloclip® introduces the award-winning 3-in-1 photo lens solution for the Apple iPhone 5. The patented quick-connect iPhone 5 lens is now available in black, red and white colors at olloclip.com and retails for $69.99 USD.

The olloclip for iPhone 5 contains three lenses for fisheye, wide-angle and macro shots in one small, convenient package. This International CES Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree is half the size and weight of the average car key and easily fits in a pocket and in the palm of the hand making it the perfect camera accessory.
  • The fisheye lens captures approximately a 180 degree field-of-view

  • The macro lens applies roughly a 10X magnification on macro and is cleverly concealed within the olloclip by unscrewing the wide-angle lens.
The olloclip uniquely features the Panorama 360 Plus™ creating more than a 360 degree image using the olloclip fisheye lens with the Apple iOS 6 Panorama camera feature. The Panorama feature used with the wide-angle lens also provides a wider and taller field of view that enhances the panoramic experience. Rumours: Next Mac OS with Maps and SIRI. iPhone 5S for WWDC 2013.

Rumours: Next Mac OS with Maps and SIRI. iPhone 5S for WWDC 2013.

Sources in Asia say Apple is already gearing up to make the next iPhone for mid-2013 launch, and the next Mac OS update is also pretty much a given. These Two of Apple’s biggest product launches in 2013 could share the same stage, if recent rumors are to be taken into consideration.

Around the time Apple shipped OS X 10.7 Lion, the Mac maker confirmed plans to speed up development to commence an annual upgrade cycle for Mac OS aficionados.

Delivering on its promise, the Cupertino giant shipped OS X Mountain Lion (version 10.8) one year later. If the pattern holds, OS X 10.9 – rumored as “Lynx” – should come out in June, or July the latest.

Also for WWDC 2013 analysts are now expecting a new iPhone. Although Apple has shifted this update cycle to fall, sources speaking to the company’s suppliers in Asia say we should expect an incremental iPhone 5S next summer.

The same goes for OS X 10.9, which only seems to poke its head out from time to time in webserver log entries. Nonetheless, the evidence is there that Apple is working on both.

However, according to a sketchy rumor emerging this past weekend, the next Mac OS will feature a Maps implementation and Siri.

Hong Kong: Apple to establish a data center.

Apple Inc. plans to set up a data center in Hong Kong, which is set to be the company's first outside of the U.S., the Chinese-language Hong Kong Economic Times reported Monday, citing three unnamed sources.

The report said the Hong Kong government had earlier been persuading Apple to establish a data center in Hong Kong, after Google Inc. began constructing such a facility in the city last year. Construction for such data centers usually take one to two years.

The report didn't say when the Cupertino, Calif.-based company could establish a data center in the territory.

USA: AT&T to support Apple’s Facetime without extra charges.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesùs.

USA: AT&T to support Apple’s Facetime  without extra charges.

AT&T announced plans to support Apple’s Facetime video calling service over its mobile network without extra charges for more of its subscribers, after criticism about the additional fees it was levying on users.

However, the latest change only applies to high-end customers – users with an LTE-capable iPhone or iPad and tiered data plan.

Earlier this year, it was reported that the operator was facing complaints from US consumer groups, who had argued that charging more for specific over-the-top services goes against the principles of net neutrality.

AT&T argued that the rules did not apply to apps which are preloaded on handsets, noting that similar, alternative products are available for download.

In a blog post yesterday, Jim Cicconi, senior EVP of External and Legislative Affairs for the company, said that due to the number of iPhones it has on its network, “when Apple rolls out new services or changes, as it did in iOS 6, it can have a much greater, and more immediate, impact on AT&T’s network than is the case with carriers who have far fewer iPhone users”.

The operator is already supporting Facetime over Cellular for customers with its high-end Media Share plans, while any customer can use the service over Wi-Fi.

Cicconi said that “we will continue to gather and assess the network data on this issue over the next few months and anticipate that we will be able to expand the availability of FaceTime to our customers on other billing plans in the near future”.

Heading-off another criticism, AT&T said that it will also support the service for deaf and hard of hearing customers who qualify for special text and data-only packages.

Facetime has been available for some time, but Apple only added support for the service over mobile networks with its recent iOS6 release.

Q3 2012: Samsung Galxy SIII named as top-selling smartphone.

Q3 2012: Samsung Galxy SIII named as top-selling smartphone.

Samsung’s Galaxy S3 overtook Apple’s iPhone 4S to become the world’s best-selling smartphone in Q3, according to Strategy Analytics – though the firm expects Apple to regain the crown in the current quarter.

The South Korean vendor’s flagship Android device clocked up sales of 18 million in the quarter, giving it a 10.7 percent share of the global smartphone market. Sales of the device more than tripled from the 5.4 million shipped in Q2.

“A large touchscreen design, extensive distribution across dozens of countries, and generous operator subsidies have been among the main causes of the Galaxy S3’s success,” said Neil Shah, Senior Analyst at Strategy Analytics.

Samsung itself only sporadically publishes smartphone sales figures. However, it confirmed earlier this week that the Galaxy S3 has surpassed 30 million global sales since launching five months ago.

Apple is said to have sold 16.2 million units of the iPhone 4S and 6 million of its successor, the iPhone 5, for 9.7 percent and 3.6 percent shares, respectively.

There were 127.6 million smartphones from other vendors shipped in the quarter, says Strategy Analytics, accounting for 76 percent of the market.

“We expect the new iPhone 5 to outship Samsung’s Galaxy S3 in [Q4] and Apple should soon reclaim the title of the world’s most popular smartphone model,” added Neil Mawston, Executive Director at Strategy Analytics.

Q3 2012: Apple holds first position but drops to a 50,4% tablet market share.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesùs.

Please click on the charts below to enlarge the view.

Q3 2012: Apple holds first position but drops to a 50,4%  tablet market share.

Worldwide tablet shipments totaled 27.8 million units in the third quarter of 2012 (3Q12), according to preliminary data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Tablet Tracker. The tablet market grew 49.5% year over year in 3Q12 and 6.7% over the second quarter of 2012. Android shipments, led by Samsung and Amazon, surged during the quarter, at the expense of Apple, which saw its share slip notably during the quarter.

"After a very strong second quarter, Apple saw growth slow as both consumer and commercial (including education) shipments declined, and rumors of a forthcoming iPad mini began to heat up," said Tom Mainelli, research director, Tablets at IDC.

"We believe a sizeable percentage of consumers interested in buying an Apple tablet sat out the third quarter in anticipation of an announcement about the new iPad mini. Now that the new mini, and a fourth-generation full-sized iPad, are both shipping we expect Apple to have a very good quarter. However, we believe the mini's relatively high $329 starting price leaves plenty of room for Android vendors to build upon the success they achieved in the third quarter."

Apple's slowdown put a sizeable dent in the company's commanding worldwide market tablet share, which slipped from 65.5% in 2Q12 to 50.4% in 3Q12. The remaining top five tablet vendors all gained share during the quarter as a result. Most notable was the impressive quarter turned out by Samsung—driven by its ever-growing portfolio of tablets. Samsung shipped 5.1 million tablets worldwide in 3Q12, up 115.0% from 2Q12; that's an increase of 325.0% from 3Q11, when it shipped 1.2 million tablets.

The top 5 was rounded out by Amazon, ASUS, and Lenovo; with all three vendors experiencing sequential growth over 2Q12 while Lenovo and ASUS also saw solid year-over-year growth. Amazon, which did not have product in 3Q11, announced new 7-inch and 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD tablets late in the quarter, and began shipping the new 7-inch HD version (in addition to a refreshed version of the original 7-inch Fire) in mid-September.

This helped grow its worldwide market share from 4.8% in 2Q12 to 9.0% in 3Q12, despite only shipping in the U.S. (the company began shipping into five additional countries in 4Q12). ASUS' share growth was backed by strong shipments of its Google-branded Nexus 7 device; Lenovo's gains were driven by strong shipments in China.

"Samsung took advantage of an opportunity in the second quarter," said Ryan Reith, program manager, IDC's Mobile Device Trackers. "The company offers a wide range of tablet offerings across multiple screen sizes and colors, and that clearly resonated with more buyers this quarter. Its growth to 18.4% of worldwide market share during the quarter represents the first time a competitor has attained this level of share since the original launch of the iPad."

"Competitors are turning up the pressure on market leader Apple," Reith added. "With the recent introduction of a number of Windows 8 and Windows RT tablets, consumers now have a third viable tablet platform from which to choose. However, price points are critical in tablets, and Microsoft and its partners will have a tough time winning a share of consumer wallet with price points starting at $500."
